Trinity River Vineyards is located in the deep and mountainous Willow Creek American Viticulture Area of Humboldt County, CA. Established in 1983 , it is one to the oldest, smallest and most northern of all the AVA’s of California. The Gardner Ranch, planted in 1973-74, has the oldest vines in Humboldt County. Tucked away on uplifted river bed from the nearby Trinity River, the vineyard produces mature and elegant Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Just down river in a slightly cooler spot, we grow our Pinot Noir and Syrah at the Sentinel Vineyard. On the hillside above the Gardner Ranch at the Winnett Vineyard we farm Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Across the river on the “left bank” of the Trinity River, which cuts the AVA in half we grow more Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot at the Clover Flat Vineyard.
Our wine is rare in its steep and mountainous terroir, and our passion for creating a truly memorable bottle of wine is unmatched. They are hand-crafted, un-manipulated estate wines that are distillations of a specific place. Grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted by the winemaker and crew, then attentively looked after during élevage and maturation. Created in a more European style, our wines pair wonderfully with food.
